Revaluate Loves Smart People, The Revenge: Mike Simonsen

Central ParkWe’re not really fans of revenge (as far as you know).

We ARE fans of stuff that’s smart. And when it comes to smart, there are few people in the world who are more so than the guys on our Advisory Panel.

Seriously. These guys leap algorithms in a single bound. They could hang out and talk string theory with Stephen Hawking. They could chew up Alex Trebek and eat him for breakfast (not that they plan on doing that … that’d throw the production schedule for Jeopardy into a tailspin).

But we digress.

Today, we’d like you to get to know a guy who’s a true Renaissance man (and we don’t have a lot of those in 2014). He’s an artist, an entrepreneur, a guy who once counseled his daughter to write about Hypatia (a truly badass lady scientist) instead of the more pedestrian Marie Curie. He’s an oenophile, a lover of algorithms, an entrepreneur, and a guy who, if he wasn’t so much fun to hang out with, would be almost terrifyingly smart.

Meet Mike Simonsen.

Mike Simonsen is the Co-Founder and CEO of Altos Research. A data geek in the truest sense, he founded Altos to commercialize technology he initially developed for his personal need to track the value of his bloated Silicon Valley mortgage after the NASDAQ bubble burst of 2002.

He’s a smart guy.

Since then, he’s grown the company to be the premier vendor of real-time housing and rental market analytics. Altos is the yardstick against which all others are measured.

Clients include world-renowned investment firms, banks, GSEs, and thousands of real estate agents around the country. Mike has more than 20 years of experience in analytical software under his belt and is one of the keenest minds in real estate today. He served as vice president of product management at Nevis Networks, where he has a patent pending for applied network cryptography & has served on the board of directors for the Entrepreneur’s Organization in San Francisco.

On top of all this, he’s an avid rock climber, an above-average skier, a photographer with a penchant for Frank Lloyd Wright homes, and an amateur furniture-maker who could give Bob Vila (or even Norm!) a run for his money.

“There are two elements I look for in an exciting project: primary data and broad practical application. REVALUATE has both. Primary data means that you’re looking at the original source of the insight; it’s not just licensed and repackaged. This is information you can’t get elsewhere; it’s rare and powerful. That REVALUATE, via the brush of broad practical application, takes insight into individual homes promises to be enormously powerful and refreshing for home buyers.” — Mike Simonsen

When guys like Mike signed on to be on our team, we knew we were on the right track. While you’re waiting to get to know Dan Green (you’ll have to wait til tomorrow for that), stop by Revaluate.com and get to know US. We hope you like what you see, and that you click your way to finding out what it’s really like to live there.
