New York: It’s a Helluva Town

Flatiron Building::strolls down sunlit street, sings::

“New York, New York, a helluva town. The Bronx is up, but the Battery’s down. The people ride in a hole in the groun’. New York, New York, it’s a helluva town!”

Lemme ask you a question. When was the last time you stopped what you were doing and looked around this city? When was the last time you said, “Dude! This  is awesome! I love it here!”

Because, you know what? New York City IS awesome and we all should stop and take notice every so often.

Ferris Bueller once said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” And that’s the God’s-honest truth, isn’t it?

And as far as we’re concerned, there’s no better place to stop, look around, or really, do pretty much anything than New York City. Period.

So stop and look around is just what we did. And we saw a TON of great stuff.

We saw flowers in Central Park! Great architecture (that Flatiron Building is a beauty, isn’t she?) everywhere we looked. We ate delicious delectables (there was a cupcake that tasted JUST LIKE a cheese-and-peanut butter cracker and it was glorious, I tell you, GLORIOUS!) and sipped delicious concoctions (potent or otherwise).

The East River from Astoria ParkIn short, we took some time to fall in love with New York City all over again.

And BOY, are we glad we did. Because, really, it IS a helluva town. We’ve got everything here. Art paired with music. Hustle with bustle. Glamour with seamy underbelly. Uptown with downtown. Tradition with hipster, yin with yang. And we love it. All of it.

So, we ask you this: if you just had a day—one perfect fall or summer (or spring or winter or whatever you like) day to spend in this fine town, what would you do? What would you eat? What would you see? We want to know … and it’s because we care (and because we want to know what to do next!)

Revaluate loves New York City. We think it’s the best place there is.

We’ve just about come to our first anniversary here, and we look forward to lots more years of helping people find the best places to live here, and to help them know what it’s like to live there before they ever move.
